about the bigmouth

My name is Mel (formally Melissa)  I am a married mom of one, plus a furry dog child.  I met my husband while on a vacation in Arizona, and moved there 2 months later.  I dragged him back to “sunny” Wisconsin, and that is where we reside.

I am not what one might call a “prissy” person, however I love pink and diamonds.

I like to be center of attention, which made me an outcast in high school.  My hair has been dyed every shade of ther rainbow, and I had 27 piercings at one time (now i only have 4)

I am an artist, I love to draw, paint murals and do various other projects.  I have a very short attention span, however, so many of these projects go unfinished

I enjoy reading, yes that’s what I said.  I know very few people who still read, but i love to escape this world and try out another in a good book

my parents are divorced, they seperated when I was 25.  You’d think it would be easier as an adult, but it’s not

I love catalogs!  I never buy anything out of them, but i order them all the time just to “window shop”.

I am addicted to the Sims2, and am exciting to hear that there is going to be a Sims3 next year!

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up . . . a vet, a teacher, a speech therapist, photographer, novelist, astronaut . . .

My favorite tv shows are I love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show.  I also love Project Runway, Top Chef, and Ghost Hunters.

I am manic depressive and was diagnosed at age 14.  I have been on meds successfully for over 5 years.

My son is obessesed with Spongebob, therefore I tend to watch a lot of it, and quote it often

I collect Russian Nesting Dolls, I love them!  I am currently designing 2 sets of my own

I have a HUGE heart for animals. Strays and runaways tend to find me.  My husband has banned me from the humane society because I always try to bring something home.

My dream is to someday have a huge house with tons of land and adopt 15 homeless dogs to live with me.  They will all be allowed in the house and can sleep in my bed if they like.

I read tabloids.  Trashy tabloids that make celebrities look bad crack me up and make me feel better about myself

One of my favorite things to do is swim.  I grew up with a pool in my backyard, therefore never having to go to a public pool.  Now I am a pool snob.

My favorite flower is the tulip, but I’d rather not be given flowers because they just die.  Spend your money on something tangible people!

  1. Where animals are concerned you and I are 2 peas in a pod.
we have 4 human children ..4 furry children …two feathered and one with a shell.
I too have been forbidden to go to the humane society, the city pound or any pet store.
I was diagnosed with Panic disorder in 1999 but am doing well on lexapro.
My oldest son was brain injured during birth …he is now almost 20 and spongebob is his favorite show…his entire room is spongebob.
When I was a kid I loved to be center of attention…now I am content to let others shine.
I’m not a prissy person either but still like girl stuff. Had my first pedicure at age 40. LOL
Anyway…nice to meet you Mel…My name is Monica

  2. Nice to meet you as well, Monica! I would lvoe to have more animals, but the hubby feels otherwise at this time! Maybe someday! 3. Mel,

I too am a animal lover, I have always had pets.
I am just writing to let you know that I love your Blog and can relate to how you feel about that poor little girl.
I am a mother of 3 grown children and have 4 grandchildren.
I am like a mother bear when it comes to my children, when my oldest was 4 yrs old a teen age girl and her sister tried to burn my daughters foot, to say the least I went ballistic and beat the living Hell out of that girl.
I also know what it is like to have medical problems, I have had cancer twice, suffer from panic disorder, Diabetes, crohns disease, have pins and screws in my lower spine and sever sleep apnea……but I am a fighter……too darn mean to let go….lol
No really my attitude and sense of humor get me through it all.
I also wish you all the best with your attempts with trying to get pregnant…..I will pray for you that it happens soon.

    Debbie
