The Big Purge

It is unbelieveable how many toys a 3 year accumulates in a short epriod of time.  Every November I clear out the toys to make room for the Christmas haul.  Then In June I weed out the toys again before Allen wreels in the birthday catch.

But lately i’ve been feeling as though I live in a giant toy dumpoing ground.  I think my house is where all toys go to die.  Even the ones he doesn’t play with seem to be endlessly strewn about while he searches for his favorites.  His playroom has recently become so overrun that he could no longer get in to play!  And the poor dog tries to clumsily step over everything to get to his food and water (also in the playroom) but he just ends up leaving without eating because he can’t get to his dishes.

Ahh, to be one of the parents who somehow manages to keep the living room clean and free of squeeker, boingers, light-up ding-dongers, and sharp pointy things that seem to find you feet in the middle of the night!  Alas, I am not one of those parents.  We don’t have a house with a family room and a living room, just one of the aformentioned.  And Allen’s room is on the 1st floor while the lving space is on the 2nd, so I can’t very well leave him to play alone in his room.  And why would I want to anyway?  Then I’d never see my boy!

So I grabbed a trash bag, sent Allen and Mark downstairs to play, and started weeding out the endless amounts of happy meal toys, broken matchbox cars and parts and peices of otherwise junk that a three year old bares as valuble treasure.  I know in a few months I’ll have to to do it again, but my sanity needed a clean living room!
